A pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Abuja, Alex Ochienu, has narrated how he was beaten by two soldiers into a coma for refusing to obey their order to do frog jumps.
The cleric alleged that he was flogged by Cpl. M. Dankwa and his colleague whose name he did not know, until he collapsed and was rushed to the Gwarimpa General Hospital.
The civil engineer said he was supervising construction works at Paradise Estate, Life Camp, Abuja when the soldiers invaded the site with officials of the Development Control Department and assaulted him and other workers.
Ochienu told Northern City News on Tuesday that he lost his phone during the incident which occurred on January 17, 2017 at 3pm.
He said, “The soldiers rushed into the site and ordered everyone to frog-jump; they flogged the workers and threatened to shoot us. I tried to explain to them that I was weak because I was fasting, but Dankwa was infuriated by my explanation.
“He kicked me in the stomach; another soldier also joined in beating me till I collapsed. When they saw that I was almost lifeless, they left and I was rushed to the hospital by the workers.”
The cleric said he learnt the soldiers apologised to the owners of the estate “for their mistake.”
But Ochienu said he planned to take legal action against the Development Control Department and the military for the assault.
The Paradise Estate Project Manager, Tobias Tokbe, said he was not at the scene, but added that beside Ochienu, another worker, Bem Ali, was also brutalised by the soldiers without any reason.
He said, “I was discussing with the development control officials at the project office when I saw some workers carrying somebody and they told me Ochienu was beaten by the soldiers that accompanied the development control officials to the site; I was livid.

Man catches 55-year old wife with pastor, classmate in their bedroom

The 22-year-old marriage of a 60-year-old Lagos businessman, Mr Tunji Oyedele, may be dissolved over his wife’s alleged sexual recklessness and infidelity.
Oyedele told an Igando Customary Court in Lagos, on Wednesday, that his wife, Romoke, a 55-year-old trader, with whom he had four children, was promiscuous.
He said, “Whenever I travel, my wife brings men into our house; on two occasions, I caught my wife with her lovers in our bedroom.
“On one occasion, I came home unannounced and caught her with one of her lovers in our bedroom.
“On another occasion, I caught her with another man who she claimed was her Pastor.
“She claimed that the said Pastor wanted to take her to a river for a special bath to avert spiritual attack.
The petitioner further alleged that his wife was fetish and was always in possession of different charms.
He said, “I see different strange objects in my bathing water, food and everywhere in the house.
“There was a day I entered her room in her absence and saw feathers tied with clothes and other diabolical objects.
“I believe that my persistent illness, which has deferred medical solution, is as a result of her fetish acts.
“I have been forced to leave my own house because I don’t want to die now.”
Oyedele presented the pictures of the charms as exhibits, and begged the court to dissolve the marriage as he was no longer in love.
Romoke, however, debunked the allegations, and stated that she and her husband had lived in peace until January 2016, when he married a new wife.
My husband and I never fought; but immediately he married another woman, his attitude changed.
“His new wife accused me of sending hired killers to her and my husband turned me into a punching bag,” she said.
Romoke told the court that she was not adulterous.
She said, “The man my husband first saw in our bedroom was my classmate in primary school.
“The other man was my Pastor, who came for spiritual purpose.”
The respondent said that she was not ready to divorce her husband because she was still in love.
The court president, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, adjourned the case to March 7, for further hearing.

My wife demands for N500 before sex – Man tells cour

A certain Mr. Sunday Olaosebikan on Wednesday called for the dissolution of his seven-year-old marriage to his wife, Mutiatu, for allegedly demanding for money before sex.
Olaosebikan told the Igando Customary Court in Lagos that he was no longer comfortable with his wife’s unusual demand.
He told the court, “My wife always refuses me sex until she collects N500.
‘’This, I am sure, is why she has not conceived after the birth of our only child, who is six-year old now.
“I am tired of paying N500 per round before having sex with my wife, please dissolve the union.”
He further told the court that Mutiatu always threatened to kill him.
“My wife is after my life, she stabs me with dangerous weapons whenever we have misunderstanding.
“She once stabbed me with a broken bottle on my head and I bled heavily which landed me in the hospital.
“Mutiatu used our kitchen knife as pillow, when I queried her; she said her pastor instructed her to use it against bad dreams.
“Many a times when I request for sex or during argument, she brings the knife out threatening to stab me.
“She is just aggressive and violent in nature; she may kill me if I continue with the marriage.
“Because of her violent nature, I ran away from the house to avoid untimely death,” he said.
“I accepted my wife back because I thought she had learnt her lesson, but she refused to change, instead she is getting worse day by day”, he added.
The petitioner also said that his wife failed to respect him.
“My wife does not obey my orders; she always tells me that I cannot control her because we are age mate.”
He said that because of his wife’s bad behaviour, she could not get a steady job as ‎employers always sacked her when she exhibited her character.
Olaorebikan begged the court to terminate the marriage.
The respondent was not in the court for her defence.
The President of the court, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, therefore, ordered bailiff to serve her another summon to appear in court and adjourned the case to Feb. 28 for further hearing.

I didn’t ask Christians to kill Muslims – Apostle Suleman

Apostle Suleman Johnson of the Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide has denied the security report leading to his attempted arrest on Tuesday where he was alleged to have instructed congregation during a preaching that Christians should go after Muslims. The Apostle has described the report as not only senseless but malicious.
The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, had prevented the man of God from being arrested in Ado Ekiti by operatives of the Department of State Services(DSS), when they made alleged spirited efforts to pick him up over a comment he allegedly made a couple of weeks ago, which the authorities branded as too ‘caustic’ and ‘inflammatory.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday on the contentious issue, Pastor Suleman clarified that what his preaching centred on was the need to always defend themselves anytime the church is invaded by gunmen and not a direct incendiary comment that can make Christians and Muslims to confront one another.
The cleric added that it was sinful for anyone to order a fellow man to kill a creation of God, describing the alleged comment as a
misrepresentation of facts.
He said: “They said I preached in Auchi two weeks ago which they said implied that I was instigating Christians against Muslims . I have always been an advocate of peace and I can’t stay around and be saying such. There widows, orphans we take care of . No leader will see his shepherd being killed and be happy.
“Later, I got anonymous calls from Fulani Herdsmen about what I said. What I said was that, if gunmen came around church to attack churches, you must defend yourself, but if they come to pray, don’t attack. But they quoted me out of context. I am not stupid, I live among the crowd and I am not senseless. Time for self defence has come. Whether you are a Muslim or Christian, someone can’t just come to your house and killed your children and you will keep quiet.
“I said the Christians must not go after them, but if they come after us, then defend yourself. This is what they twisted to mean. I am hearing different versions of the story. I was in Abuja for three days why didn’t they come after me. But now that I am in Ekiti, they wanted to lump me up with a man they think was against them. It could have been easier to pick me up in Abuja, I don’t live here.
If this will make them to clarify what I meant, I can present the video of my preaching. A town in Aviele in Edo State , Muslims rushed into the church and chased away all church members. I have always been preaching that youths must not kill . It was even wrong for the police or security agency to be coming around me and be saying I preached that I said Christians should kill Muslims without any verifiable facts.
“The only thing I am seeing is that we must learn how to investigate. I am not happy because of the way Christian community have been reacting. They are even saying they will protests abroad in all Nigerian embassies. I will never be alive and see Christians destroying property of Muslims because there will be problem.
“If they had called me and say I should tone down what I said, I would have gone back to do that. I have never been invited, but if I am invited I will come but that will be at my own time. I was not stopped from preaching.
“This Kaduna crisis confirmed that there was a deliberate attempt to frustrate Christians. The National Assembly must not fold their arms and see this happen. But I have no grudge against Buhari or DSS. They are only doing their job, but the DSS did it wrongly.”

"If I have to give back my gold medal, I'll have to give it back."

“The Jamaica Olympic Association shall ensure full implementation of this decision.

The inaugration speech has become a pun of media jokes and split screens have been made showing Addo repeating the words of President George W. Bush and President Bill Clinton.
Earlier Eugene Arhin, Communications Director at Golden Jubilee House issued a statement on his Facebook page attempting to pass off the plagiarism as a mere case of lack of referencing and attribution.
He wrote: “My attention has been drawn to references being made to a statement in the speech delivered by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, at his swearing in on Saturday, January 7, 2017, which was not duly acknowledged”.
“I unreservedly apologise for the non-acknowledgement of this quote to the original author. It was a complete oversight, and never deliberate. BILLIONAIRE BLOGGER LINDA IKEJI IS NIGERIA’S MOST INFLUENTIAL WOMAN

Lnda Ikeji is excited and she has every reason to be. The 36-year-old media mogul topped the list of 10 most influential women in Nigeria 2016 for VL Magazine. “Yay! I topped VL magazine’s Most Influential Women in Nigeria 2016 list,” she announced on her renowned blog.
Linda beat Folorunsho Alakija, one of the richest women in the world, Mo Abudu, one of Africa’s most successful women, and Nigerian songstress, Tiwa Savage to clinch the number one position of being the most influential woman in Africa’s most populous country last year.
“Awww, so honoured! The part of affecting people’s lives positively is the one that gladdens my heart the most,” she explained. Adding that she would be doing a lot of reach out this year.
While being number one on the list is subjective to the publication, especially as the metric for the index is unknown, the blogger turned media and social media entrepreneur is deservingly one of Nigeria’s most influential women. Linda is one of the pioneers of blogging in Nigeria, an activity she picked up as a past time and has developed in the last decade to become one of Africa’s foremost news or gossip site, however you choose to describe it, with a market value of over one billion naira.
Through her blog, Linda she has often lent her voice to social change and has made an impact in the lives of several Nigerians. The Imo state native is also a philanthropist, donating millions of naira to good causes like the fight against Ebola, not to mention the occasional Linda Ikeji Blog (LIB) giveaways. On a few occasions, she has voiced her passion for giving back and making an impact just as she did with the announcement yesterday on her blog.  “I want to give back to the society. I feel like I am 10 percent done, I haven’t done 90 percent,” she stated during an interview two years ago.
However, Linda’s influence extends beyond her wealth and philanthropic activities to the fact that she serves as a role model to young Nigerian and African women. At 36, she is well worth billions of naira from the success of her blog, but that did not stop her from expanding into new territory with the establishment of an online TV network (Linda Ikeji TV), radio station (Linda Ikeji Radio), music website (Linda Ikeji Music), and very recently LIS – Linda Ikeji Social.
Whether it is pioneering the art and business of blogging or steadily building a media empire, Linda Ikeji has through a combination of hard work, consistency, innovative thinking, and creativity, cemented her status as a media mogul, and now as Nigeria’s most influential woman.
