T.B Joshua fails to honor court invite, case adjourned till Dec. 11th

The hearing on the suit against Synagogue Pastor, T.B Joshua and his engineers over the September 2014 church building collapse has been adjourned to December 11th by Justice Lawal Akapo of the Lagos State High Court. The resumed hearing of the case was meant to take place this morning but T.B. Joshua and his engineers, Oladele Ogundeji and Akinbela Fatiregun failed to appear in court.

Counsel to the Engineers, Oluwaseun Abimbola, told the court that they were absent because they were not served with court papers. Reacting to this position, the Lagos State's Attorney General, Adeniji Kazeem said no valid physical addresses were found for the contractors, which he said was reason that the Ministry of Justice could not locate or serve the court papers.

The presiding judge ordered that proper court notices be served to the engineers within 72 hours, and advised their counsel to inform them to take the court proceedings seriously as their trial is of a criminal case. 117 people, mostly Nigerians and South Africans, died in the Church building collapse

Nigerian Preacher arrested after being accused of beating, robbing and raping escorts he met online

A Nigerian man who claimed to be a preacher has been arrested after being accused of beating, robbing and raping escorts in hotels across Washington DC. Gabriel Omogbo of Hyattsville, Maryland, is charged with attempted first degree murder, armed robbery, first degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Police believe that the 33-year-old used the website Backpage.com to find female escorts & arranged to meet up with them.

According to WJLA, the first two attacks happened at the Best Western Plus Hotel in Rockville and on both occasions he is accused of raping and stealing from two women he had met online.

A third attack took place at the Radison Hotel in Rockville, where he is accused of threatening a woman with a knife.
He ordered the woman to take off her clothes before reportedly telling her 'You are going to die today.'
He then beat her, cutting her arms, legs and hands and stole her iPad, cell phone and $300.
The woman survived and told police that before he fled the hotel room offered her a glass of water.

He was arrested after police traced CCTV footage from the hotels as well as collecting DNA evidence from each of the rooms.
CCTV footage showed a man matching Omogbo's description wearing blue jeans and brown loafers entering and leaving the hotels at the time of the attacks.
Omogbo is now being held at Montgomery County Correction Facility on a no bond status. He will next appear in Court on January 8 and could face life in prison.

According to his Facebook page, he preaches at the Celestial Church of Christ in Riverdale and is a former student at Bowie State University.

APC Deputy Governorship candidate in the Kogi state November 21st governorship election, James Abiodun Faleke says he's picked late Audu Abubakar's son, Mohammed to be his deputy governor once he is declared governor by INEC. Faleke said this while speaking to some of his supporters who had gathered at the home of Late Prince Audu in Kogi this morning. He is pictured above with Abubakar Audu's son, Mohammed.

Faleke is calling for the cancellation of the supplementary election which is being planned by INEC this Saturday December 5th. INEC had declared the November 21st inconclusive and ordered a supplementary election by December 5th. This has caused a division in APC as the party has refused to field Faleke as its candidate for the supplementary election.

Yahaya Bello who came second in the party's governorship primary that produced Audu Abubakar, has been asked to replace Audu in the supplementary election, a decision Faleke is against

Fears over rise in horse sex abuse in Switzerland

Animal welfare officials in Switzerland have warned that there are 10,000 people with what they term 'an unnatural sexual interest in horses' in the countryside. According to new figures, there were a record 1,709 cases of animal cruelty in Switzerland last year, with at least one horse suffering sexual abuse every three days.

Spokesman for the swiss animal rights organisation, Andreas  Rüttimann said approximately one in ten of all animal abuse cases involving horses relates to unnatural sexual contact.

Mr Rüttimann said that the most common animal targeted by Swiss zoophiles are dogs, but horses are increasingly popular.

Saudi Arabia allows women to participate in elections for the first time

Saudi women began their first ever campaigns for public office on Sunday, in a step forward for women’s rights in the conservative kingdom’s slow reform process.
More than 900 women are standing in the December 12th municipal elections, which will also mark the first time women are allowed to vote in Saudi Arabia.

Ruled by King Salman, the oil-rich state has no elected legislature but has faced intense western scrutiny over its human rights record.
The country’s first municipal elections were held in 2005, followed by another vote in 2011, but in both cases only men were allowed to participate.
“We will vote for the women even though we don’t know anything about them,” Um Fawaz, a teacher in her 20s, said in Hafr al-Batin city. “It’s enough that they are women.”
The absolute monarchy, which applies its strict interpretation of Islam, has faced widespread criticism for its lack of equal rights. Saudi Arabia is the only country where women are not allowed to drive. They must also cover themselves in black from head to toe in public and require permission from male family members to travel, work or marry.

The late King Abdullah introduced the elections in 2005 and said women would participate in this year’s vote. In 2013, he also appointed women to the Shura council, which advises the cabinet. Abdullah died in January and was succeeded by Salman, who stuck to the election timetable.

About 7,000 people are vying for seats on 284 municipal councils in the vote, the Saudi electoral commission said. Only about 131,000 women have signed up to vote, compared with more than 1.35 million men, out of a native Saudi population of almost 21 million.

Aside from transport problems, women say registration to vote was hindered by bureaucratic obstacles and a lack of awareness of the process and its significance.

There is also disappointment at the performance of local councils and their limited powers – restricted to streets, public gardens and rubbish disposal.

Although the voting age has been lowered to 18 from 21 and the proportion of elected council members has increased to two-thirds, winning a seat remains a challenge for women in an electorate where male voters vastly outnumber them.

Nassima al-Sadah, a candidate in the Gulf coast city of Qatif, said officials told her late on Saturday that her name had been removed from the list. “I don’t know why,” she told Agence France-Presse. Her campaign was on hold as she tried to obtain clarification.

Al-Sadah was planning to be a particularly active candidate, she said, with a social media onslaught supported by traditional banners and brochures, none of which would be allowed to carry her picture – a restriction that also applies to male candidates.

In Hafr al-Batin, in the east of the country, an official poster promoting the elections and containing a drawing of a man and a woman had been defaced, with the woman’s face slashed out.
Because of the kingdom’s strict separation of sexes – which applies to election facilities as it does elsewhere in public – candidates wishing to meet directly with voters will have to meet women one day and men the next, with a male spokesman addressing the men.

Saud al-Shammry, a 43-year-old Riyadh resident, said it was time for a new approach. “We strive for development and real change, free from tribal or family biases,” he said.

He said there was “a big possibility” he could vote for a woman, if her platform was convincing.

Ahmed, a government worker in Hafr al-Batin, saw no problem with having women candidates but said:
“Why not? They are just there to decorate the government anyway,” he said.

Tottenham extend run but fail to find fluency to add to Chelsea’s troubles

In Sunday's early game neither Tottenham nor Chelsea were able to find the net as honours ended even in their London derby at White Hart Lane.

On Saturday Jamie Vardy made history by scoring for the 11th successive game for Leicester City but his side could only draw with Manchester United at the King Power Stadium.

The result meant that both Leicester and United missed the chance to go top of the Premier League after Manchester City beat Southampton 3-1.

Treasury Looters Now Returning Stolen Funds– Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that those who
looted the treasury under the Goodluck Jonathan
administration have started discreet return of stolen funds....
Speaking at a forum with the Nigerian community in Tehran,
capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Buhari said those
accused of corruption would have been prosecuted but that
the matter must be thoroughly investigated in order to
gather enough evidence for them to face trial.

Buhari pointed out that it was easy for him during his tenure
as a military Head of State in1985 to arrest and put those
alleged corrupt individuals in protective custody for them to
prove their innocence
However, the President explained that in a democratic
government, he had to follow the rule of law and due
process which had slowed him down in prosecuting
corruption.

Buhari said “On corruption; yes, they are still innocent. But,
we are collecting documents and some of them have started
voluntarily returning something. But we want all. When we
get those documents, we will formally charge them to court
and then we will tell Nigerians to know those who abused
trust when they are entrusted with public funds. So, the day
of reckoning is gradually approaching.”, he added

Audu should be substituted by APC for Kogi supplementary poll – AGF

The Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister for Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, has explained that following the inconclusive Kogi State governorship election and the death of the All Progressives Congress, APC, flag bearer in that election, Prince Abubakar Audu, the party will need to substitute the deceased in the anticipated supplementary poll.

Speaking in Abuja at a seminar organised by the Nigerian Law Reform Commission on the reform of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (Establishment) Act‎, Malami declared that the election has to be concluded, but was silent on whether the party’s deputy governorship candidate, James Abiodun Faleke, should automatically step in as the candidate.
While declaring that, “The issue is very straightforward,” he explained that, “Fundamentally, Section 33 of the Electoral Act is very clear‎ that in case of death, the right for substitution by a political party is sustained by the provisions of section 33 of the Electoral Act.

“And if you have a community reading of that section with Section 221 of the Constitution, which clearly indicates that the right to vote is the right of a political party and and the party in this case, the APC has participated in the conduct of the election.
“It is therefore apparent that ‎the combination community reading of the two provisions does not leave any room for conjecture.
“APC as a party is entitled to substitution by the clear provisions of section 33 of the Electoral Act.
“Also Section 221 of the Constitution is clear that the votes that were cast were cast in favour of the APC.

“Arising from that deductions, it does not require any legal interpretation.
“The interpretation is clear: APC will substitute, which right has been sustained by Section 33 of the Electoral Act.

“So be it, the supplementary election that has to be conducted along the line.”
On whether Faleke should automatically be the beneficiary of the substitution, Malami said: “It all depends on the appreciation of issues arising from the primaries conducted before now.
“There was a first and a second candidate.
“That primary that had taken place over time had not by any way been nullified.
“And it is recognized by law.
“But then, a further consideration would be the idea of conducting another primary, but that is not envisaged in view of the sustainability of the first primary,‎” he stated.

Ondo PDP Rep member wins Appeal case

An Appeal Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State Capital has upheld the election of a lawmaker, representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo federal constituency at the House of Representatives , Hon kolade Akinjo.
The Appellate Court quashed the tribunal judgement, which earlier nullified Akinjo’s election on the ground that he was not a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the March 28, poll and ordered for a fresh election.

But, the three man panel led by justice Abiriyi Shehu faulted the tribunal judgment, for ruling that Akinjo was not a member of the PDP at the time of the election on the ground that his membership card was not signed by his ward chairman and secretary.

The court noted that Akinjo’s challenger, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) would have had a good case if he had presented another card to prove that the federal lawmaker’s membership’s card was fake.
He, therefore, upheld the election of the lawmaker as duly elected representative for his people but awarded no cost for the respondents.
In his reaction counsel to ‎the APC, Titiloye Charles said his party had accepted the verdict in good fate but would soon make its position known.
Counsels to the PDP Remi Olatubora and Adeoti Adejuyigbe both lauded the Appeal Court for the judgment, which they said had again restored confidence in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.

Akinjo commended the court judges for restoring his mandate which will enable him focus on selfless service to his people.
He also expressed gratitude to governor Olusegun Mimiko, who he described as his benefactor and political leader that had stood with him through thick and thin.

Cross River Deputy Speaker denies impeachment rumour

The Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Mr Joseph Bassey, on Tuesday denied the allegation that the House is working towards impeaching him and the Speaker, John Lebo.
Speaking with newsmen in Calabar, the State capital, the Deputy Speaker said the House in the face of the rumour remained one indivisible legislature.
He said, “The impeachment rumour being peddled around is not true, there is nothing like that really.

“The only problem is that things are really rough and nobody is happy about the situation of things presently.”
Residents of Calabar woke up to the news on Tuesday that plans were on by the House to impeach the speaker and his deputy for allegedly abandoning members to their fate.
It was learnt that the lawmakers had been complaining about their inability to perform their statutory functions due to lack of funds.
According to administrative staff in the Assembly, Mr Abel Ojong, the lawmakers were not happy about the lack of funds and non-payment of their entitlements.

“I am not aware of plans to impeach anybody but I know that some of the lawmakers have been complaining bitterly and openly about lack of money,” Ojong said.

"UK wife who poisoned husband is foiled by spelling mistake'"

A British woman who tried to kill her husband by poisoning his Christmas drink of sparkling fruit wine with anti-freeze was jailed for 15 years on Monday after being undone by a spelling mistake and a trail of text messages.
Following family arguments, Jacqueline Patrick, 55, twice tried to kill her husband Douglas, 70, in October and on Christmas Day 2013, by spiking his cherry Lambrini, a drink favored by teenagers looking to get drunk on a low budget.

"Perhaps most shocking of all was the note she gave to the London Ambulance Service purporting to be from her husband, stating that he did not wish to be resuscitated," said detective inspector Tracey Miller, of London's Metropolitan Police, in a statement.

The forged note showed a misspelling of the word dignity as "dignerty". When police later asked her to write the word, Jacqueline Patrick made the same mistake.

The couple's daughter Katherine, 21, was sentenced to three years in jail after admitting to inciting her mother to poison her father, while Jacqueline pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder at the family's south London home.

Douglas Patrick was rushed to hospital fighting for his life, and tests revealed he was suffering from anti-freeze poisoning.

"His wife was informed who then told doctors she thought Mr Patrick may have drunk a blue liquid by mistake. The hospital, finding it strange that she hadn't volunteered this information earlier, called police," said the police statement.

Mother and daughter's mobile phones were seized and revealed a series of incriminating exchanges, including "I got the stuff I will give him some later delete txt tell no one ok", and "He feels sick again I gave him more delete this".

British Embassy In Nigeria To Be Shut Down If UK Goes Ahead With Deportation Of 500 Nigerians

Time ticks away for the British Government as from November 22, 2015 to ensuring all Nigerians being detained, tortured, traumatised and dehumanised in various Immigration Detention Centres all over United Kingdom and Europe are released unconditionally in 14 days, else by retaliatory way, British citizens in Nigeria would be deported, British Airlines/Products would be boycotted and there is every reason to believe that British citizens in Nigeria will be deported.

This shocking position was made by Professor Alexia Thomas, Chairman, The Commonwealth Liberation Party, TCLP, a British registered political party during a press conference held in their headquarters yesterday.
ProfAlexiaThomas
In a widely circulated press statement, Alexia, a Nigeria-born, British fiery human rights activist leading the anti-deportation campaign said:
“The United Kingdom Ruling Government is given up till the 7th of December, 2015, to pronounce mandate to release Nigerian citizens from Immigration Detention Centres in the UK unconditionally without compromise, or else by 9th December, 2015, they (British Government) should expect Nigerian citizens to boycott British products and produce. The Nigerian people will refuse to patronize British Airlines and Nigerian citizens will refuse to visit British Embassy or Submit Applications nor pay them any fees.
DAVID CAMERON
DAVID CAMERON

“The Conservative Ruling Party is compelled to refund all Visa Fees paid by Nigerians at home and Abroad for Residence and Visitors’ Application which was declined from the year 1999 to 2015. By the 14th of December,
2015 the Conservative Ruling Party are requested to pronounce immediate release of Nigerian citizens in Detention Centers or failure will see the British Embassies in Lagos/Abuja shut down from operation to the public”

Fuming, Alexia explained that “By 21st December, 2015, an ultimatum to release all Nigerian citizens in Detention Centres or face the consequence of British citizens resident in Nigeria equally deported back to United Kingdom unless those who have dual Nationalities.”
Emphasising this ultimatum, Alexia states that “The Conservative Ruling Party is given 28th of December, 2015 deadline to release names and profiles of deceased migrants’ records death since 1968 to 2015 as compelled by Law to release under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
They are required to release the names of the dead who committed suicide and those killed in the hands of UK Government Employees. They are to compile Dead Victims Dozier send to the office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abuja. The Conservative Ruling Government are under a mandate to send to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ‘Arrangement and Provisions’ kept in place to compensate families of the deceased victims.”
In a unanimous decision, this British political insists, “We, the TCLP declares this Resolution Formula the ‘International Federalistic Political Approach’ because the British Conservative Ruling Party has violated the Treaty Article 9, 13, 15 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, UDHR 1948. Injustice to One is Injustice to All.”
Geoffrey Onyema
Exposing the British Government, the press statement reads: “The British Government ( The Conservative Ruling Party) intention is a premeditated attempt to ‘depower colored people civilization enrichment’. Their action
is War against Humanity. The Queen is called upon to caution The Conservative Ruling Government before they bring shame to the British Kingdom as their actions to dehumanise citizens from the Commonwealth Nations and treat them as Third Class citizens by denying them Equality means Third World War is looming.

“The TCLP pronounces that the world is yet to recover from the Second World War of 1935, that saw 15 million Jews and others lost their lives, where Jews were massacred, 100 million citizens of the world displaced and made homeless. Insanity of The Conservative Ruling Party must be stopped, else anarchy-a new face of change will throw the mud at the Reparation, and the Commonwealth citizens uprise will stand for itself. The Conservative Ruling Party is seriously warned through the press medium to stop all Hate Crime Abuses, Motives, Covert Operations and Mayhem being unleashed on Commonwealth citizens; else they are advised to disband, and will disband, so the Labour Government will manage the British Empire/Parliament for the moment. The Queen of England will be advised accordingly before United Kingdom invites destruction upon herself, her country, her citizens and her people.”

On British style of governance, this President of Independent Diplomat Commission, IDC said “UK Government does not use a constitution. It is still not clear why they the Commonwealth Nations use constitution, meaning the Rule was for the Upper Class to oppress the Middle and Lower Class. UL Government did not give Her Commonwealth Nations Freedom, instead gave them Sovereignty, which translates the Will to do your own thing without interfering. Freedom is unlocking the code of knowledge. So, failing to give them their practices of Statutes, Court Judgments, Works of Authority and their Treaties simply means they have given them the rights to commit Homicide on their citizens. Freedom has now been given to The Commonwealth Nations through International Bill of Patriot Mandate, IBOPM released worldwide last month.
“The Constitution of UK is the sum of Laws and Principles that make up the body-politic of UK. It concerns the relationship between the Individual and the State, functioning of the Legislature, the Executive and Judiciary. Unlike many other nations, UK has no single Constitutional document.
